AI integration
AI integration is the work of putting an AI model inside a system you already run so it performs one defined step: extracting fields from documents, answering from your own knowledge base, drafting text a person reviews, or classifying records in a pipeline. Joltwise scopes it to a specific job with a measurable result, rather than bolting it on as a demonstration.

- Retrieval over your own sources
- Human in the loop

When to call us
- Staff retype information from PDFs, invoices or forms into a system
- Answers exist in your documentation but nobody can find them quickly
- You want to use AI but cannot say which task it would do
- A previous AI pilot produced a demo that never reached production
- You need AI output checked before it is acted on, not after
What this involves
The useful question is never "can we add AI". It is which task, judged by what measure, failing how. A model that is right nine times in ten is excellent for drafting and unacceptable for posting to a ledger, and the difference is a matter of where it sits in the process rather than how good the model is.
In practice most useful integrations are narrow: retrieval over your own documents so answers cite sources you control, extraction that turns unstructured paperwork into fields, or classification inside a pipeline that a person already supervises. A human stays in the loop wherever being wrong would be expensive.
Evaluation is part of the build, not an afterthought. If nobody can say whether the system got better or worse after a change, then nobody can maintain it, so the output includes a way to measure quality that you can read without needing us.
What ai integration covers
- AI-assisted internal workflows
- AI agents & assistants
- Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
- LLM integration & prompt engineering
- Document & data extraction
- Model evaluation & guardrails
What you get
- A working integration inside the system you already run
- Retrieval over your own content, where that is the right approach
- An evaluation you can read and re-run yourself
- Guardrails and a human review step wherever error is costly
- Documentation of what the model does, and what it must not decide
What it costs
You set the budget.
Rates are flexible by design. Tell us what the work is worth to you, and we scope to fit it, not the other way round.
Questions
- What is AI integration?
- AI integration is connecting an AI model to a system or workflow you already use so that it carries out one specific step, rather than operating as a standalone tool. Typical examples are extracting structured data from documents, answering questions from a company knowledge base, drafting content for human review, and classifying incoming records.
- What is RAG, or retrieval-augmented generation?
- Retrieval-augmented generation is a technique where a system searches your own documents for relevant passages and gives them to a language model as context before it answers. It matters because the answer is grounded in sources you control and can cite, which reduces invention and lets you correct the source rather than retrain a model.
- How do you stop an AI system from making things up?
- By grounding it in retrieved sources, constraining what it is allowed to decide, and keeping a person in the loop wherever being wrong would be costly. No approach removes the risk entirely, which is why the design question is where the model sits in the process rather than how much you trust it.
- Do we need our own model, or is an existing one enough?
- For almost all business tasks an existing model is enough, and the work is in retrieval, prompting, evaluation and integration rather than in training. Training or fine-tuning is worth considering when you have a large amount of proprietary labelled data and a task that general models genuinely do badly, which is rarer than it sounds.
- How do you measure whether an AI feature is working?
- By defining the task narrowly enough to score it, then scoring it on real examples before and after changes. That usually means a set of cases with known-correct answers, a measure appropriate to the job (accuracy, recall, or human ratings) and a record you can re-run yourself when something changes.
